A Shropshire finance expert has narrowly missed out on a prestigious national award for the second time in as many years.

Shropshire finance expert narrowly misses out on national award

Robin Melley from Matrix Capital Limited, near Bridgnorth, was pipped at the post and finished as runner-up in this year’s Chartered Financial Planner of the Year competition.

“I’m extremely proud to have yet again reached the final three out of 3,000 chartered financial planners across the UK which is no mean feat,” said Robin.

“But to have missed out by such a small margin and to get that close to the title has made me all the more determined to finally win the award next year.”

Robin completed two tough judging stages which included making financial planning recommendations for a complex case study, before facing a panel interview in London to decide the final winner.

The result was announced at the Chartered Awards gala dinner held as part of the Personal Finance Society’s annual conference at the ICC in Birmingham.

Over 3,200 people are now recognised as chartered financial planners, and it’s seen as the gold standard for the financial planning industry.

Launched in 2009, the Personal Finance Society’s awards recognise the contribution that chartered status makes to the reputation of financial planning as a trusted and valued profession.

“At Matrix Capital, we are very proud to have achieved chartered status, and it means our clients can be sure they will receive the very best advice and benefit from our high levels of expertise.”

Robin is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and is the organisation’s Chartered Champion for the Shropshire and Staffordshire region. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning.

Matrix Capital supports both business and private clients, offering advice on investments, pensions, retirement, and inheritance tax issues.
