Telford & Wrekin Council is offering a range of incentives for new and existing businesses to take up vacant council-owned industrial and commercial space.

Telford & Wrekin Council business unit deals to boost economy

This initiative is in keeping with the council’s aim to support existing business and attract new inward investment to help kick start the borough’s economy.

The scheme applies to all industrial and commercial space up to 2,000 square feet and space is available for lease throughout the borough.

As part of the possible incentives, businesses may be able to claim up to six months free rent on flexible three year leases, with units available for immediate occupation.

Start up businesses can also take advantage of further space that is available at the Business Development Centre (BDC) on Stafford Park 4, where businesses can also book meeting and conference facilities.

Rents at BDC are all inclusive which allows for new businesses to plan budgets going forward and also take advantage of continued business support.

Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for Housing, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “We are determined to continue to do whatever we can to aid the local economy and this is just one more example of how we are doing this.

“We are making it as easy as possible for businesses, whether they are established or brand new, to move into suitable premises in the right location. This approach will ultimately create jobs as well as helping to galvanise the local economy.

“Perhaps in the past we haven’t had a sufficiently commercial focus but that has all changed now and we are using our Co-operative Council approach to work closely with the commercial sector to overcome any barriers that exist to businesses operating successfully.”
