Charity is the winner for Shrewsbury accountants
Kind-hearted accountants in Shrewsbury have helped to raise over £600 for the Severn Hospice.

The team from Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants, in Old Potts Way, joined forces with friends, family and colleagues from Henshalls Insurance Brokers, Kingsland Wealth Management and Wace Morgan to take part in a quiz.
Held at the Reabrook Social Club, the event was hosted by quizmaster Chris Dorricott who is Dyke Yaxley’s payroll manager.
Event organiser, Jackie Young, said: “Our annual quiz is becoming a real highlight in the fundraising calendar, and it gets more competitive every year.
“We are, as always, extremely grateful to everyone who supported this year’s quiz and who helped us to raise £480 for Severn Hospice.”
The rest of the money for the Hospice was raised with a charity cake sale held at Dyke Yaxley’s offices.
“Many staff baked cakes and brought them into the office so we could sell them to colleagues and neighbours,” said Jackie, who is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility team.
“It was an excellent effort and there were so many tasty treats to choose from that we raised another £140 for our chosen charity of the year.”
Dyke Yaxley is renowned for its fund raising efforts and the staff have raised thousands of pounds over the years.
Other charity efforts by the firm have included:
- A joint partnership with the Save the Children shop in Shrewsbury, where staff donated unwanted items to be sold in aid of the cause
- A trek to Everest Base Camp to raise almost £4,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society
- Running the London Marathon to raise money for Get Kids Going – a charity which supports young disabled athletes
- A race night to raise over £400 for The Alzheimer’s Society
