New technology has been unveiled to help tenants of the county's largest social landlord stay in touch and manage their tenancy online.

Shropshire social landlord launches online tenant portal

Shropshire Housing Group has taken the wraps off its new Tenant Portal, which will allow users to check their rent account, view the progress of any pending repairs, communicate with staff and view documents relating to their tenancy. Next year tenants will also be able to report repairs via the Portal.

The service is open to all tenants who only have to follow a simple sign-up procedure through the main website of Meres & Mosses and South Shropshire Housing Associations, which are both part of the group.

Martin Holland, chief executive of Shropshire Housing Group, explained: “We live in an age where people expect to be able to manage their affairs online if they wish, so making that facility available has been a high priority to us. That said, there is no pressure on anyone to use this, they can still telephone or visit us, but it expands their options.

“We're also very happy to help anyone who wants to use the service but is struggling to get started. They are welcome to email us or give us a call for help. Hopefully many people are going to find it very useful.”

With tenants already able to find and change homes through the Shropshire HomePoint online letting service, the new offering from Shropshire Housing Group now allows them to manage much more of the tenancy relationship through the Internet.

The new service is completely free to use. Registering requires users to have their tenancy number to hand and an existing email address. The portal can be found by visiting http://www.shropshirehousing,org.uk. Anyone requiring assistance can call 0300 303 1190.
