Shropshire business directors take a walk on the wild side for charity

Two kind-hearted members of the Shropshire business community have put their best feet forward to raise money for a well-deserved charity.

Shropshire business directors take a walk on the wild side for charity

Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Patrons Ruth Ross, Managing Director of Shrewsbury-based Building Trust in Safety Ltd, and Dave Williams, Marketing Director at Henshalls Insurance Brokers, teamed up to undertake a mammoth charity walk to raise a joint sum of £2781.25 for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Ruth and Dave took on the Long Mynd 50 mile challenge in 24 hours, where walkers had to complete a route the length of nearly two full marathons in under a day.

After hiking through some of Shropshire’s most scenic hills – throughout the day and night – the pair reached the finishing line in an impressive 16 hours 58 minutes.

Teresa Rowe, Events Manager at Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are really proud of Ruth and Dave for their efforts in raising much needed funds. Shropshire as a business community is always keen to support worthy causes, and it’s fantastic to see two of our Patrons setting such a great example.”

The Long Mynd Challenge wasn’t Ruth’s only fantastic fundraising effort. Earlier this year she abseiled over the top of Cosford viewing platform, and undertook a 12,000ft tandem sky dive.
