A Shropshire IT specialist is celebrating after scooping a £30,000 contract with a school just 18 months after launching his company.

£30,00 schools contract for Bridgnorth IT firm

Mark Ward, who runs Midland Tech in Bridgnorth, has supplied children at a primary school in Tipton with 52 tablet devices.
He has also installed a wireless network which gives full wireless coverage across the school and also in an area outside.

Mr Ward said it was exciting to see schools moving with technological advances and children being given such opportunities.

The IT expert said: “Over the past couple of years we have seen a huge growth in the deployment of tablet devices in schools.

“They are small and easy to handle but more importantly robust and reliable, simple to use and maintain and portable for use around the school.

“I hope the children of St Martin’s School enjoy their new tablets and the educational software available.

“With the new wireless network we have installed the children will be able to work wherever they need to and also outside in the warm weather in their new wi-fi zone.”

Mr Ward said he had provided Lenovo Android ThinkPad tablets for the youngsters at St Martin’s School in Tipton as he believes they are more suited for educational use.

“The Android tablets run the excellent LearnPad software which makes managing a number of devices much easier for staff.

“Technology is moving all of the time but it is great to see schools embracing these changes.

“Children are excellent on equipment such as tablets and often forget they are actually in school but what is most important is the huge educational advantage they give.”

Headteacher Sarah Bott said: “The children were very excited to have the tablets in their classrooms.

“It is a pleasure to see how they have been able to extend their learning opportunities in engaging ways.

“The teaching staff are enjoying the flexibility that this technology enables within the classroom.”

Mr Ward and his staff at Midland Tech based in Bridgnorth have a demonstration tablet available for short-term loan by schools.
Other services provided by Midland Tech include proactive IT support for the business, education and consumer markets, together with networks and data security, internet and hosting, hardware and software, repairs and upgrades and CCTV.
