Shropshire construction firm celebrates 10 years of building excellence
An award-winning, family-run, construction company based in Shropshire, which was formed after demand for its skills grew so much, is celebrating 10 years of being in business.

English Construction Ltd, the sister company of award winning English Care Ltd, is going from strength to strength and has diversified and tripled in size over the last decade.
The company, owned by directors David and Jennifer English who live near Shrewsbury, has taken on 12 apprentices since its conception and still has three of the first working with it today including site manager and site foreman – brothers Jack and Nathan Buckley, both of Shrewsbury.
The company has won several awards including the Federation of Master Builders Regional Apprentice of the Year, won by both Jack and Nathan, National and Regional winners for Waste Minimisation and Energy Efficiency and winners of the Pinders Healthcare Design Award, for the best extension to a care home.
Over the last 10 years, the company has undertaken projects ranging from minor works, barn conversions, new builds and commercial extensions to contracts in excess of one million pounds across the Midlands. The latest project is the development of the historic The Lady Forester Nursing Home in Much Wenlock , the second phase of which is due to start in the new year.
The firm has also diversified into maintenance contracts for care homes and other commercial businesses to provide a full range of services.
David English said: “I started English Construction because I wanted a highly skilled workforce to build an extension for Bowbrook Care Home in Shrewsbury. The team are very experienced in working on heritage buildings and are specialists in the care home sector.
“We undertake domestic and commercial building work, ranging from new house builds through to large extensions on commercial properties. We are very dedicated to the ongoing training and development of our team to help individuals develop and ensure the company provides a great service. In 10 years we have trained 12 apprentices from the local area in a variety of building disciplines and we were the first construction company in Shropshire to achieve the Investors in People Award.
“We have not just survived but have in fact grown and developed during a prolonged period of recession. The plan is for the company to grow further and we took on our latest full time construction worker this summer.”
