Age is no barrier to succeed as a courier

A local same-day courier company has appointed a new member of staff to ensure it continues to deliver the goods for its ever-expanding range of clients.

Age is no barrier to succeed as a courier

Shrewsbury-based Dex’s Midnight Runners (DMR) has welcomed Ursula Taylor to its team of delivery drivers, where she will manage a range of client deliveries across both the region and UK-wide, whilst also taking care of all necessary administration duties.

Derek Bennion, Director of DMR, commented: “Ursula is the third driver we’ve recruited in recent months, and coincidently enough, they have all been aged over 50. Youth employment is a particular ‘hot topic’ at the moment, but the economic downturn has also thrown up challenges to other jobseekers too. Ursula, Alan Taylor, and Steve Salmon demonstrate that age is no barrier to ongoing success, with the skills and experience picked up throughout their careers to date proving to be a huge asset to our customers.”

Originally from Peterborough but now living in Telford, Ursula, has joined DMR following a successful career in advertising sales, whilst she also has experience in the courier industry as well. Her appointment comes hot on the heels of a number of recent contracts wins for the courier company, including a partnership with Shrewsbury Town Football Club that sees DMR ensure the safe delivery of all away supporter match tickets to teams visiting the Greenhous Meadow.

Derek commented: “Ursula has settled in brilliantly and is already a very well-respected member of our team. She has boundless enthusiasm and a real willingness to work, and because of her exceptional customer service skills, she knows exactly how to deal with our clients and ensure they receive the best possible service. Ursula is also very proactive and has excellent attention to detail, which allows her to identify any potential issues, think on her feet, and come up with the most appropriate solution, very much the attitude of our entire team.

Ursula Taylor said: “The whole team at DMR has made me feel incredibly welcome. The job itself is ideal for me as I love being busy and “on the go” and I especially enjoy the driving. Interacting with the customers has always been important for me and this has been easy at DMR as they share my outlook on life in always trying to do the best job you can. For our customers, this means taking the time to get to know them and then helping them in any way possible.”
