Business leaders from across Telford are all set to hear from a Bank of England expert this month.

New Year brings economy news for Telford business leaders

Telford Business Partnership will welcome Graeme Chaplin to their quarterly breakfast meeting on January 23.

Graeme is a key representative from the Bank of England, and this will be the third year he’s shared his thoughts on the UK’s economy with TBP members.

He is the Bank’s representative for the West Midlands and Oxfordshire, and will be discussing the UK’s economic prospects at the event at the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford campus, in Priorslee.

Robin Melley, chairman of Telford Business Partnership, said: “Graeme’s annual visit to Telford is always a highlight of our calendar as it gives our members a unique insight into the world of economics and finance.

“He will share the Bank’s view of business prospects and their perspective on the future of the UK economy in these challenging times. It’s a chance for local businesses to hear the views of an expert who is directly involved in policy making, and to learn the truth about where the UK economy really stands.”

The event is open to all local businesses and is free for members of Telford Business Partnership – non-members are welcome but asked to book in advance.

“We’d encourage as many businesses as possible to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to raise questions which directly concern local companies and the local economy,” said Robin.

“Telford Business Partnership is an organisation that works hard to bring in quality guest speakers to the area so that our members and guests can learn from the experts.

Graeme’s presentation is set to be a topical reminder of just what shape our economy is in, and we’re looking forward to his views.”

Mr Chaplin joined the Bank of England in 1992, and has carried out a variety of roles in Threadneedle Street including banking supervision, economic analysis and financial stability monitoring.
