A major business summit is being held on Tuesday January 29 in conjunction with Telford Business Board, as part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s push to support business growth.

The event will take place at The Telford Campus of the University Of Wolverhampton, Priorslee and is the first major event of 2013.

The business summit will be opened by the council’s Managing Director Richard Partington and will feature presentations by David Sidaway, the council’s Assistant Director for Development Business and Housing, and Telford Business Board Chairman Graham Wynn.

There will also be a question time session with a panel that will include senior members of the council’s cabinet, Representation from the public sector and senior business leaders.

Telford Business Board, chaired by Graham Wynn, Chief Executive of TTC Group, is a private sector led board dedicated to being the voice of the private sector business in Telford. They work in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council and the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership to influence and support the actions of the council in enabling business growth and success in the borough.

Local businesses are being invited to send in their questions and these will be answered by the panel on the day.

Alongside the main event in the networking area will be a Business Support and Business Growth Market featuring staffed exhibition stands highlighting both Telford and Wrekin’s internal business services and the support that our partners can offer.

Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for Development, Business and Housing, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the business community of Telford and Wrekin and further afield to come together and discuss how we move forward as a borough and address any issues or challenges.

“We are committed to helping new and existing businesses to operate from as sound a footing as possible because that is how our economy will start to improve.”

Richard Partington, Telford & Wrekin Council’s managing director, said: “'Telford and Wrekin Council aims to be a business supporting, business winning council. We will be looking at the successes that we have already achieved, discussing the exciting plans for the Southwater development and talking about our aims going forward and what investment opportunities there are.”

The event will take place between 7.30-10.30am on Tuesday January 29.
