Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI), the Telford-based market leader in thermal insulation products , has started 2013 with a significantly strengthened team as it looks to further business growth both at home in the UK, and overseas.

Thermal insulation market leader invests for the future

Robin Merrick has joined the team as International Marketing and Sales Consultant. He joins from Rollatherm International where he was responsible for business development both at home and overseas in a very similarly focused business, working closely with the retail grocery sector. Indeed, his career spans 20 years within the FMCG market place.

Speaking of his appointment, Robin comments: “Seymour Manufacturing International has developed and launched a number of innovative energy saving and loss prevention solutions for the 21st century food retail and production sectors, and I am delighted to have joined the team at such an exciting time in its growth.”

Stuart Mortiboys has joined as a Design Development Consultant and is responsible for creating drawings and 3D visuals for conceptual ideas and new products. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been a 3D visualiser for the last seven years, and a draughtsman for over 15 years. Prior to joining SMI, Stuart was based in Dubai creating 3D models and visuals for the construction industry.

On the opportunities open to him in his new role, Stuart comments: “I have worked with 3D models in a wide range of industries from architecture, to product design, and so I am looking forward to bringing my skills to the product development process at SMI.”

Meanwhile, Sean Edwards is a very welcome returnee to SMI and has taken up the position of Manufacturing Development Technician. After five years away from the business during which he pursued other interests, Sean is now focusing on hands-on involvement in new product development. He is delighted to be back, as he explains: “It’s great to be back at SMI and in some respects it feels like I’ve never been away. It’s a very exciting time to be re-joining the company and I’m looking forward to being part of the company’s future growth.”

Speaking on the outlook for 2013, Chairman of SMI, Brian Seymour concludes: “2012 was another successful year for SMI and we knew that if we wanted to capitalise on that growth, as well as break in to new international markets, we needed to invest in our already wonderful SMI team. Whilst it is our thermal insulations products that our customers buy, it is our team and their depth of knowledge that the customers buy IN to – simply without our loyal and hardworking team, we wouldn’t be the business we are. Already Robin, Stuart and Sean are making a huge difference and I’m personally looking forward to working with them much more during 2013.”

In addition to these three appointments, SMI has also welcomed a new bookkeeper and a sales support executive to the team this year.

The company is supplying its revolutionary Tempro® product to Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ ambitious expedition across Antarctica.
