As the saying goes: look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves and for one Telford organisation that has helped contribute towards a £4,000 charity donation.

TTC Group staff helps contribute to charity

Penny pinching staff at the TTC Group in Hadley Park, Telford gladly donated spare copper from their monthly salaries to collect £235 which has been more than doubled by bosses to give £500 to Shropshire hospice in Apley, Wellington.

Another dozen fundraising initiatives were launched over the past year with TTC Group directors agreeing to double the amount raised meaning a grand total of £4,000 was handed out to a wide variety of charities.

They included the Movember hair raising activity when male staff grew moustaches for the month raising over £500 for the prostate and testicular cancer charity, shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (£430) and £202 in partnership with Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service for humanitarian aid for Romania.

Director Jo Baugh abseiled down a 50ft viewing tower at RAF Museum Cosford to collect £800 for Midlands Air Ambulance while team leader Jon Robertson ran the London marathon for the International Childcare Trust. Admin assistant Dawn Gittins jumped out of an aeroplane to collect £600 in sponsorship for Hillbrae Kennels and the Wildlife Trust.

A dozen bags of clothing and bric a brac were collected for Severn Hospice’s shop, staff held a number of dress down days, sold home made cakes and put the hat round for the Poppy Appeal. The driver education company bought training tops for Allscott Cricket Club, donated £100 to a local bowling club for a new fence and continue to sponsor AFC Telford.

TTC Group MD Jenny Wynn said: “Charity raising is part of our company ethos here at the TTC Group. All the staff seem to get involved and they come up with some wonderful ideas which help to raise thousands of pounds for charity.”
