Shropshire law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has teamed up with a specialist investigation agency to show the county’s businesses how they can combat theft, fraud and dishonest employees at a free seminar in Shrewsbury on Wednesday 6 March.

Free seminar to help Shropshire businesses combat theft

Alasdair Hobbs, Employment Partner in FBC Manby Bowdler’s Shrewsbury office says: “With one in four businesses experiencing fraud every year, and the resulting corporate losses running at some £12 billion, there is no doubt that your business will be targeted by fraudsters, be they your own employees or outside individuals or organisations.

“In fact with stories appearing in the media on an almost daily basis, theft from businesses is becoming more prevalent, more sophisticated and for greater sums.

“It’s not just employees with their hands in the till, goods going missing from stock, and scams such as false invoicing which are affecting businesses, it’s also employees conspiring in procurement fraud, accounts receivable fraud, tendering fraud, asset disposal fraud, and even recruitment fraud. Current and former employees can also cost businesses dear by setting up rival companies to steal revenue by making use of their former employer’s confidential information and contacts to win customers.”

FBC Manby Bowdler’s and Expert Investigations’ seminar will demonstrate the methods and reasons for employee theft, fraud, false absenteeism, fraudulent claims and employment issues and show how a specialist investigation can obtain evidence legally and correctly for use in criminal and civil proceedings.

Equipment used in investigations will be on display and real video footage of investigations will be used as case studies.

The seminar takes place at Shrewsbury Town Football Club at 8am on 6 March. Booking information is available from Gavin Gill on tel. 01902 392440 or via g.gill@fbcmb.co.uk.
