Value of networking adds up for Shropshire Chamber members
Networking events staged by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce have helped generate nearly a million pounds worth of business for county firms during 2012.
A survey of Chamber Members revealed that attendees at its regular breakfast networking clubs had shared more than £850,000 between them.
The Chamber’s regular networking clubs began in Telford in the summer of 2000, and due to their phenomenal success, subsequent meetings were later launched at Shrewsbury’s Lord Hill and Oswestry’s Cricket Club. Around 55 Members currently attend the fortnightly events in Telford, while the Shrewsbury and Oswestry clubs welcome approximately 60 and 30 Members respectively.
Teresa Rowe, Events Manager at Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The amount of money that has been shared over the years amongst the Shropshire business community is a testament to the fact that networking really brings results. It is a great way for companies to promote their businesses, learn about other firms and connect with business people in the county.”
Neil Crook, of Auditel, explained: “As a Member of all three Chamber breakfast clubs, as well as other clubs in the county, these events always take priority in my diary. They are superbly organised and well attended, with a great diversity of business sectors represented. Whether delegates are looking for new business opportunities or potential suppliers to their business, or that of their clients, I have found the network clubs to be of great value. Everybody is trying to help each other succeed and I have found a wealth of knowledge, help, and advice freely given. The network clubs will form an important and integral part of my business activity through 2013 and beyond.”
