Wrekin Housing Trust is double finalist in national awards
The Wrekin Housing Trust is a finalist in two national awards. Two separate teams at the Trust have been shortlisted for awards for their training and maintenance work.
The first is the Innovation of the Year Award at the UK Housing Awards, organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Inside Housing magazine. Now in their 17th year, this year’s awards attracted more than 300 entries from all over the UK so the team are thrilled to be a finalist for their ‘rapid response’ repairs service, launched in 2012.
David Wells, General Manager at the Trust, said: “We were really pleased to find out we had been selected as a finalist in the Innovation Award. We work really hard to make sure that our systems are constantly improving for the benefit of our customers, and that often includes new and innovative ideas, which it’s great to be recognised for.”
The Trust’s in-house specialist gas team has also been selected as a finalist, this time in the Heating & Ventilation (H&V) Awards 2013, for their ‘Future Proofing Engineers Skills’ project. This award submission was based on the Trust’s progressive training and apprentice opportunities for employees, in partnership with Stourbridge College, which has in turn increased customer service levels for gas servicing and maintenance.
Fleur Whittingham, Gas Operations Manager at the Trust, said: “It’s thanks to the input and hard work of a lot of people that we’ve been chosen as a finalist for this award and we’re really pleased to have been shortlisted.”
The UK Housing Award and the H&V Award winners will be announced in April.
