A Taxing Breakfast for Shrewsbury Businesses
Shropshire Council’s newly appointed Operations Director will join the Shrewsbury business community, along with two leading Research and Development tax specialists, at a breakfast presentation next week.

The event is being held at Descartes Restaurant, Radbrook Campus, on March 13 from 7.30am to 10am.
The presentation has been organised by Shrewsbury Business Chamber and aims to help local businesses understand how they can make the most of the tax breaks they are entitled to. The presentation is open to members and non-members but booking is essential.
Gaynor Gravestock, Vice Chair of Shrewsbury Business Chamber said:
“We are delighted to welcome Paul Harris and Dan Packwood of PWC who will be sharing their expertise with the Shrewsbury business community. People tend to think of Research and Development as only relating to manufacturing and technology, but as they will explain other businesses are eligible too. They will provide practical insight into R&D claims, demonstrating how £100k of expenditure can lead to £25K of funding, as well as highlighting other changes in the R&D legislation. They will also discuss how the patent box tax relief will mean that company profits may only be taxed at 10per cent from April 2013.
“We are also very pleased to welcome Clive Wright, Shropshire Council’s new Operations Director, who will share with us the Council’s vision for the Shrewsbury business economy and how it intends to support us.
“The economic climate is certainly challenging and we all have an important role to play in helping businesses in our town. It is our aim within the Shrewsbury Business Chamber to support the local economy by providing a VOICE for business, SUPPORT business, PROMOTE business and ATTRACT business to the Shrewsbury area. At this event it is great to bring together business and local government so we can work together to benefit our local economy.”
