A new Shropshire enterprise that will help people with disabilities to become more creative has just been launched in Whitchurch.

New creative enterprise launches in Whitchurch

Hazel Hanslip, who previously worked in further education with young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities, is behind the new ‘Make Create Social’ initiative.

“We aim to develop wellbeing through learning contemporary and traditional arts and crafts, focusing on a specific skill and project each session,” explained Hazel, who completed a ‘Start up” sprogramme run by Bridgnorth-based business consultants Good2Great.

“We hope people will make friends, relax and develop a new hobby, taking home a creation of their own at the end of the day.

“People with learning disabilities deserve good value for money, to have the best experiences with ambitious outcomes, supported by skilled professionals who care and this is what I will offer.

“The Start up programme run by Good2Great supported me in taking my business from a pipe dream to reality.

“The combination of master classes and one-to-one coaching has helped me develop the right mind set for entrepreneurship and equipped me with the vital skills I needed.

“Learning alongside other ’newbies’ has been an excellent start for my business journey and I foresee exciting times ahead,” Hazel commented.

Sally Themans of Good2Great commented: “Part of the G2G ethos is to provide practical tools, as well as business theory and experience, through one-to-one coaching from people who have started their own businesses so they can fully empathise with the very real challenges that face any new start up.

“We wish Hazel all the very best and will continue to support her.”

Hazel’s paid-for workshops will be held at the Creatology Arts & Crafts Hub in Whitchurch every fortnight and are open to anyone with learning difficulties and/or disabilities aged 16 and above.
