A rural chartered surveyor is offering a free Farm Asset Audit to help farmers identify and maximise the potential from their assets.

Rural chartered surveyor offers free audit to help farmers

The move by Much Wenlock-based Madeleys Chartered Surveyors comes after a keynote speech by Environment Minister George Eustice at the virtual Oxford Farming Conference.

Mr Eustice used the opportunity to unveil the next stages of a plan to reward farmers and landowners for actions which benefit the environment, supporting sustainable food production alongside vital nature recovery and work towards net zero.

It is all part of a road map to a better, fairer farming which will be brought in over a period of seven years, with the phasing out of the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) to help farmers plan for the future and so they can be co-designed with the sector

In response, Paul Madeley of Madeleys Chartered Surveyors, offered a package of assistance to help farmers make the most of the opportunities that could become available.

“We are basically offering a free Farm Asset Audit to any farmer that wants to take advantage of our expertise," said Mr Madeley.

“This will include help with identifying opportunities for grants and schemes across the land, for future opportunities dependent on land use, alternative uses for buildings and strategic planning, housing etc.”

Mr Eustice’s announcements are a further stage of the Environment Land Management scheme – which will replace the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) and the existing Countryside Stewardship Scheme, with the first stage, the Sustainable Farming Incentive, starting this year.
