An independent opticians in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, is entering an exciting new chapter under the leadership of a new director.

Much Wenlock Opticians eyes new era under new leadership

Clare Darbyshire Opticians, situated on Wilmore Street, has been a pillar of eye health for the local community since its establishment in 1982. Over the years, the practice has garnered an exceptional reputation for providing high quality eye care services while nurturing enduring relationships with patients throughout Much Wenlock and its surrounding areas.

While optometrist and original owner, Clare Darbyshire remains at the practice part-time, Katie Mimnagh has joined the team as a new full-time Director.

Director, Katie Mimnagh, brings a wealth of experience to the team with over 16 years in the field of optometry. Having transitioned from multiples to spearhead this long-standing independent practice, Mimnagh’s vision for Clare Darbyshire Opticians aligns with a deep commitment to personalised patient care.

Reflecting on her decision to join the Clare Darbyshire team, Katie expressed: “I saw a great deal of potential in the practice and it’s an incredible team and environment to be part of. There’s a huge amount of care for the team here; we really listen to each other and to our patients.

“The whole team is passionate about individualising each appointment to the patient’s needs and providing high standards of eye care to the community, in a friendly and professional manner."

As an experienced leader in optical practices, Katie hopes to enhance the services and frames on offer to patients, while also improving the patient experience during their visits.

Clare Darbyshire Opticians already offer leading technology by optical standards, bringing one of the first 3D OCT machines to the Shropshire community which allows the team to detect eye conditions earlier and provide a variety of treatment options as a result.

As a Director of the practice, Katie hopes to keep Clare Darbyshire Opticians at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry.

Katie added: “There are some really exciting opportunities on the horizon for the practice and we’re really looking forward to making each patient visit more than just an eye exam.

“We’re not only striving for the best technology but also ensuring that every patient feels special and leaves feeling confident in their new frames.”

The practice has recently expanded the range of frames on offer to patients, adding All Saints to their portfolio of eyewear brands. Katie also hopes to introduce a sunglasses collection in the near future with staff specialising in this area and able to find the perfect pair of sunglasses for patients to suit all budgets and occasions, from skiing to sunbathing.

As Clare Darbyshire Opticians paves the way for an optimistic future, they remain dedicated to their mission of providing exceptional eye care services, maintaining strong connections with the community, and embracing advancements in optical technology.
