MP welcomes Telford business to Parliament for Government roundtable

Shaun Davies, MP for Telford, invited Mail Solutions, a Telford-based printing company, to take part in an exports roundtable hosted by the Department for Business and Trade. Shaun attended the roundtable alongside Toby Forbes, Mail Solutions’ Head of International Sales.

Sir Chris Bryant MP, Minister for Trade, chaired the roundtable, and it was attended by Members of Parliament from the West Midlands and an exporting business from each of their constituencies. It was hosted in conjunction with the West Midlands All-Party Parliamentary Group, of which Shaun is a former Chair. This was the second in a series of regional trade roundtables hosted by the Minister.

UK Export Finance was also present at the roundtable, and participants discussed the barriers that prevent British businesses from exporting their goods around the globe, as well as the support that is already available from the Government. Topics ranged from customs hold-ups to the cost of energy and support from UK Trade Envoys for British businesses abroad.

The Minister made clear to the MPs and businesses present that the Government and UKEF want to improve their provision for exporting businesses, including by cutting red tape and administrative delays. Since entering office, the Government has already agreed landmark trade deals with the US, India and the EU, and in June 2025 published its new Industrial Strategy.

Shaun said: “I hear from Telford businesses about the obstacles to trading and exporting, and I’m determined to stand up for our local businesses and make sure their voices are heard at the highest levels of Government. The opportunity to have that discussion in person with a local business and the Trade Minister was incredibly useful. Opening up these channels of communication, with both the Department for Business and Trade and UK Export Finance, will be vital to eliminating the bureaucratic roadblocks that are holding British businesses back. I’m more than happy to facilitate that communication between Mail Solutions, or any other local business, and the Government.”

Toby Forbes, Head of UK & International Sales added: "We are grateful to Shaun for inviting us to participate in the round table hosted by Sir Chris Bryant MP, the Trade Minister. It was insightful to hear the experiences of other companies and gain a deeper understanding of how the UK government, through the Department for Business & Trade, is supporting and promoting UK exports.”
