Different Dog unites Shropshire’s best businesses for B Corp month
Shropshire-based Different Dog is set to unite the county's best businesses for B Corp month in March.

Every March, B Lab and the global B Corp community celebrate what it means to be a B Corp, recognising businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency and raising awareness of the movement worldwide.
This year, Different Dog, together with other BCorps in the region, are looking to put Shropshire at the heart of this celebration by setting up the county’s first BLocal Hub to create connections within the community, maximise the positive impact of local B Corps and raise awareness of the wider movement.
Different Dog was born out of a desire to change dogs’ lives through the power of real food. Set up in 2017 in Shrewsbury in Charlie and Alex Thurstan’s kitchen, as a reaction to the highly processed dog food industry, they now feed over 20,000 dogs across the country with sustainably sourced, gently cooked fresh food.
Since day one, customers have been sharing the difference they’ve seen in their dog’s health since feeding the food: from better digestion, smaller stools, shinier coats, and more energy…the list goes on. They believe that dog food can be done differently and that includes protecting the planet we live on, from recyclable packaging, being certified carbon neutral or having fully traceable ingredients from farm to bowl. It’s uncompromised goodness for unconditional love. They were certified as a BCorp in 2022 and recertified last year. There are now 11 BCorps in Shropshire, and the movement is growing.
“We all need to be socially responsible to support the world we live in, and by choosing brands that are B Corp certified, our customers can have confidence that our mission is more than just words", said Alex Thurstan, Director.
"We are so lucky here in Shropshire, being surrounded by fantastic businesses, and we want to celebrate all that’s great about our county and engage wider stakeholders to support our local economy and bring voluntary organisations, social enterprises and businesses in the region together to help our community thrive.”
