New Cyber Security meetup “ShropSec” launches in Shropshire
A new cyber security and ethical hacking community, ShropSec, is launching in Shrewsbury, bringing together local professionals, students, and technology enthusiasts with an interest in cyber security.

ShropSec is part of the global Hack The Box community initiative, a platform widely recognised for its hands-on approach to learning ethical hacking and cyber defence skills. The group aims to create a welcoming, collaborative space where individuals can develop practical skills, share knowledge, and connect with others in the field.
The first event will take place online on 16 April 2026 at 7 pm, making it accessible to anyone interested in cyber security across Shropshire and beyond. Attendees can register via the ShropSec website.
The meetup will feature informal talks, interactive challenges, and networking opportunities. It is open to all skill levels, from complete beginners looking to explore cyber security, to experienced professionals wanting to deepen their expertise.
With cyber threats continuing to rise and affecting organisations of all sizes, initiatives like ShropSec play an important role in raising awareness and helping individuals build valuable, real-world skills.
