Two Shropshire estate agents merge to form new 'Super Agency'
The Shropshire property landscape has undergone a significant shift following the announcement of a strategic merger between two of the county’s independent estate agents.

Mannleys and Samuel Wood have joined forces to establish the Mannleys Group, a move designed to create a regional powerhouse with the scale to challenge national chains while maintaining a local, independent ethos.
This newly formed entity unites Samuel Wood’s established presence in Shrewsbury, Ludlow, and South Shropshire with Mannleys’ dominant position in Telford and its surrounding markets. Unlike many corporate mergers aimed at cutting costs through consolidation, directors have emphasised that this partnership is strictly growth-led.
Both firms enter the agreement from positions of financial strength, with immediate plans to recruit new staff and expand their combined footprint further into North Shropshire and the wider Midlands.
The executive leadership team comprises a quartet of experienced local directors: Russell Griffin and Andrew Cadwallader from Samuel Wood, alongside Aaron Manley and Chris Mann from Mannleys. By pooling their resources, the group now commands one of the largest buyer and tenant databases in the region, supported by four physical offices and several strategic hubs.
In a move to protect the heritage and local trust built by both firms, the group will undergo a carefully managed brand evolution. In Telford, the business will continue to trade as Mannleys. The Shrewsbury branch will operate as Mannleys with Samuel Wood, while the Ludlow and South Shropshire offices will be known as Samuel Wood with Mannleys. This tiered approach aims to balance the familiarity of the original brands with the increased capability of the larger group.
Clients are expected to benefit from a significant boost in marketing power and technological investment. The merger brings together enhanced property management services and a wider geographic reach, alongside plans to launch a sophisticated new digital platform later this year. The leadership team has confirmed that systems integration is already underway, ensuring that sellers and landlords can access a broader audience of potential movers across the entire county.
Chris Mann said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Mannleys to join forces with Samuel Wood. Both independent and respected businesses share similar values and a strong commitment to service, and by working together we can create a more proactive and ambitious company for sellers, landlords and tenants across Shropshire and the wider region. By combining our teams and experience, we are building a business with genuine momentum and clear ambitions for further growth.”
Andrew Cadwallader added: “This merger will create a progressive, forward-thinking property business built for the future. By combining our strengths, we are creating a more dynamic and capable company, with improved coverage and greater resources to support our clients. We are particularly excited about the opportunities this creates for growth across the region and the ability to continue building a modern, forward-thinking agency that remains firmly focused on service and results.”
“We also see this as a platform for future acquisitions and continued growth across Shropshire and neighbouring areas. The Group will be better positioned to showcase Shropshire homes to a broader audience and support sellers and landlords with an enhanced service,” he said.
