Telford MP Unites Local Business for Charity World Cup Sweepstakes
Shaun Davies, Member of Parliament for Telford, has launched a new community-driven fundraising initiative, bringing together local businesses, to raise funds for Lingen Davies Cancer Support.

Telford’s MP has announced a World Cup Sweepstake, with donating businesses each representing a country in the cup matches. All donations made by the businesses will be matched by Telford & Wrekin Council, and the entirety of the funds will be donated to local charity Lingen Davies in support of their Sunflower Appeal.
The Sunflower Appeal is a £5 million campaign to establish the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at the Princess Royal Hospital. As Telford’s first dedicated cancer centre it will not only double the capacity to deliver chemotherapy across the region, but also significantly reduce the need for patients to travel to Shrewsbury for essential care.
The winning business of the tournament will also receive a voucher, gifted by the Brewery Inn in Coalport, to take their team out for a meal.
Shaun commented “I’m so proud to support the fantastic work of Lingen Davies – they have an exceptional team, and the Sunflower Appeal is a really important cause. Telford is my home, it’s where I was born, raised, and where I’m now bringing up my own family and this centre will bring life-changing treatment and dignity closer to home.
“I’m calling on businesses, big or small, to join in on the Sweepstake, and compete for the trophy, all whilst raising funds for an amazing reason.”
Naomi Atkin, CEO of Lingen Davies, said: "We're tremendously grateful to Shaun for once again harnessing the support of the business community to raise awareness and funds for our £5million appeal. We hope that as many supporters as possible get behind this fun initiative to generate more funds for local cancer services.
"Establishing a dedicated Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Princess Royal Hospital will not only double the capacity for chemotherapy provision across the region, but it will mean more people living in and around Telford can access care closer to home - that's a really important factor in managing stress, fatigue and worry during cancer treatment.
"I look forward to seeing the 'friendly' competition develop over the next few months - good luck to those taking part!"
Ryan Bickham, Managing Partner at PCB Solicitors, commented “This is a fantastic initiative, that PCB Solicitors is happy to get behind, especially to raise funds for such an important cause – thank you to Shaun for gathering us businesses together.”
The sweepstake is now open for businesses to apply, with already several businesses signed up, you’ve got to be in it to win it! The link to sign up can be found at shaundavies.org/sweepstake.
