Whitchurch Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society seek new members for production

Whitchurch Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are looking for members of the community to join them as part of the cast in their next action-packed production the musical “Wind in the Willows”, which will kick off the society's hundredth anniversary year.

From 29th May to the 1st June 2024 they will head off along the River Bank as they present the Musical ‘Wind in the Willows’ based on the book by Kenneth Grahame adapted by Willis Hall with Music by Denis King.

Featuring Rat, Mole, Badger and of course Toad. Along with a company of woodland creatures, a horse, a Policeman, Magistrate, Jailer, Washerwoman and more. Audiences are in for a mad caped, fun packed two hours, as Toad leads his friends on adventures on the River and Road, which sadly don’t end well for Toad; however, following a daring battle to save Toad Hall, calm is restored and hopefully Toad will have learnt his lesson!

Following the closure of the Civic Centre the production will be held at Sir John Talbots School who have kindly agreed that the Sports Hall can be used as the Theatre Space, which will make it a unique experience for cast and audience.

To ensure the society continues to grow they are holding two open readings on Tuesday 30th January and Thursday 1st February 2024. Starting at 7.30pm, at the Masonic Rooms which are located next to Colour Supplies, Castle Hill Whitchurch SY13 1BQ.

During the evening those present will simply read through the script, anybody attending for the first time can have a go at reading a character or simply listen and enjoy the story.

So, if you have always fancied having a go (you don’t need to have performed before) then why not go along; you do need to be aged 10 or above; though W.A.O.D.S are particularly looking to recruit members aged 18+ You can go along, have a read or just sit and listen!
