A capacity entry list will ensure action all day long when Hagley Car Club hosts two days of interclub class-based racing at Loton Park Hill Climb, near Shrewsbury on the weekend of 13th and 14th July.

Action packed line-up for Loton Park

Adding a splash of colour, mainly Red, to proceedings on both days will be a large number of Ferrari cars including California, Roma, Dino and 458 Italia models.

It will be festival time for the resurgent Formula Ford class with a dozen entries received, including veteran campaigner Bernard Kevill of Ludlow, sharing the Van Diemen RF90 racing car with co-driver Simon Andrews.

Guest drivers for the weekend include competitors in the Lotus 7 Speed Championship who never fail to entertain spectators with their somewhat committed driving style, while other guest clubs with Triumph and Morgan cars possibly adding just a little more style to the event.

Over 30 road-registered cars up to and over 2 litres are entered into the Loton Park Championship with many local drivers taking part including Thelonious Panter of Condover in a Vauxhall Corsa, Simon Joyce of Bridgnorth in a Renault Clio, Hugh and Mary Elliott of Shrewsbury in an Abarth 124 Spider and Philip Steele of Welshpool in a Porsche Boxster.

Two wheel fans will have the chance to see a wide range of motorcycles and sidecar combinations competing on both days with KTM, Suzuki, BSA Rocket, Honda, Husaberg, Ducati and Yamaha examples in action.

Local rider and record holder Paul Jarrett from Kenley, Much Wenlock, is currently ranked number Four in the national standings with his KTM SMR and said: “We compete at venues across the country but Loton Park is clearly my favourite track as it is just so technical and demanding. The top riders from across the UK will be competing on both days so there will be plenty of excitement and close competition.”

Accompanied children aged under 16 are admitted free with full parking and catering facilities on site, the action starts at 9am each day and further details can be found at the host club’s website www.hdlcc.com
