Listen very carefully: ’Allo ’Allo! set to take over Ludlow Assembly Rooms

Ludlow audiences are in for a nostalgic treat this spring as the beloved British sitcom ’Allo ’Allo! is resurrected on stage for a strictly limited run.

Listen very carefully: ’Allo ’Allo! set to take over Ludlow Assembly Rooms

The production, brought to life by Ludwig Theatre Arts, will transform the Ludlow Assembly Rooms into the chaotic world of occupied France from 23rd to 25th April 2026. Based on the legendary BBC television series, the play follows the hapless René Artois, a café owner perpetually caught between the demands of the German army, the schemes of the French Resistance, and his own complicated romantic entanglements.

Central to the plot is the precarious concealment of the priceless painting, The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies, hidden in a knockwurst sausage. The stage adaptation promises to deliver the same sharp wit, frantic physical comedy, and iconic catchphrases that made the original series a household staple.

This latest venture from Ludwig Theatre Arts features a talented cast of local performers, including several familiar faces who recently appeared in the company's sold-out run of The Vicar of Dibley. Together with a vibrant ensemble, they aim to recreate the colourful, high-energy atmosphere of Café René, complete with exaggerated accents and increasingly outrageous disguises.

Director Bev Jenkins expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting that the show is a "joy to bring to the stage." She remarked that the cast has fully embraced the "brilliantly silly humour" of the script and added that the team is thrilled to be returning to the Assembly Rooms to share the production with a local audience.

Beyond the laughter, the production highlights the ongoing mission of Ludwig Theatre Arts to provide inclusive, high-quality performance opportunities for people of all ages. By celebrating community theatre, the group continues to bring engaging and accessible arts to the heart of Shropshire.

Given that there are only four performances scheduled across the three-day stint, organisers have warned that tickets are expected to sell rapidly. Theatre-goers are encouraged to book early to ensure they don't miss out on what promises to be a highlight of the town's spring cultural calendar.

For details and tickets, see ludlowassemblyrooms.co.uk/show/allo-allo/.

Allo 'Allo - Is an amateur production presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
