Pioneers of ambient electronic music, The Orb, are set to headline a highly anticipated live show at The Buttermarket, Shropshire’s largest live music and events venue, on Saturday 3 October.

Electronic legends The Orb to perform live show in Shrewsbury

Renowned for their groundbreaking fusion of ambient house, dub, and electronic soundscapes, The Orb have been at the forefront of electronic music for over three decades. With iconic tracks such as “Little Fluffy Clouds,” “Toxygene,” and “Blue Room,” the band have left an enduring mark on global club culture and remains one of the most influential acts in the genre.

Formed in the late 1980s, The Orb helped define the chill-out movement that emerged from the UK’s early rave scene, creating immersive, atmospheric music designed to transport listeners beyond the dancefloor. Their innovative approach has earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated international following.

Fans attending The Buttermarket show can expect a fully immersive live experience, combining deep, hypnotic beats with rich visual production and extended live mixes that showcase the band’s signature sound.

Martin Monahan, the owner of The Buttermarket said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring The Orb to Shrewsbury. They are true pioneers of electronic music, and this show promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience for fans across the region.”

The Buttermarket has established itself as a leading destination for live music, hosting an increasing number of original artists.

With demand expected to be high, fans are encouraged to secure tickets early for what promises to be a standout event in the town’s live music calendar.
