Shrewsbury drama group brings public school Parody to the stage this May
Theatregoers in Shropshire are in for a ripping yarn this month as the Abbey Foregate (URC) Drama Group prepares to stage its latest amateur production, Daisy Pulls it Off.

Denise Deegan’s beloved physical comedy will take over St Nicholas Hall for a four-night run from Wednesday 27 May to Saturday 30 May 2026.
The play follows the exploits of Daisy Meredith, a bright and spunky schoolgirl from a underprivileged background who wins a coveted scholarship to the prestigious Grangewood School for Girls. Upon her arrival, Daisy is forced to navigate the treacherous waters of 1920s high society, facing down snobbish prejudice and malicious pranks from her wealthier classmates.
Promising a nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek parody of classic English public-school life, the production features all the staple ingredients of the genre: midnight feasts in the dormitories, perilous cliff-top rescues, and plenty of hockey sticks. Alongside her best friend—the delightfully madcap student poet Trixie Martin—Daisy embarks on a high-stakes search for a missing treasure that could save Grangewood from financial ruin.
A spokesperson for the drama group promised a "jolly spiffing romp" that will appeal to audiences of all ages, blending fast-paced physical humour with a heartwarming story of triumph over adversity.
The production will be performed at St Nicholas Hall, Shrewsbury, between Wednesday 27 May and Saturday 30 May, with performances at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £12 for adults; £6 for under-16s.
