Shropshire veterinary practice team open their homes to rescued pets
A Shropshire veterinary practice has seen its team open their homes and their hearts, with staff members rehoming pets from county animal rescues.

Since Southwater Vets opened on Stafford Park in Telford, members of the team have been working with dozens of rescued animals - and many of them have found their forever home with the very people caring for them.
Southwater Founder and Veterinary Surgeon Ryan met his dog, Moose, when the dog warden brought him into the practice, whilst Veterinary Surgeon Catalin found a new friend after operating on Mikey the Dachshund.
Administrator Emma met Winston after he was surrendered to Hilbrae Rescue Kennels over the festive period, and student vet nurse Marni took Rudy the lurcher home as a foster after he was found as a stray on Christmas Eve - and he never left!
Ryan said: “We all work in this profession because we love animals and we want every animal to have the love and care that they deserve, so it’s no surprise that when an animal is in need a member of the team often comes to their aid - but to have so many of the team rehoming dogs and cats in the last year, I am sure is a record!”
It’s not just dogs that become pets to the team at Southwater; Registered Veterinary Nurse Becca and Student Veterinary Nurse Gracie have added a number of felines to their family from the Telford-based Next Steps Cat Rescue charity.
And Becca also supports the charity by fostering and hand-rearing kittens in her home when needed - she has hand-reared more than 20 kittens in the last 12 months!
Practice Manager, Rachel Harvey, said: “Working closely with local rescue organisations means the team sees first-hand the difference that rehoming can make to an animal’s life.
“Many of these pets simply needed the right home and a bit of patience, and it’s been lovely to see so many happy endings both within the practice and beyond.”
Southwater Vets works closely with a number of local rescue organisations and regularly provides health checks and treatment for animals before they are rehomed.
