The body of a man pulled from a reservoir in South Shropshire has been formally identified as that of Laurence Edward Norton.

Mr Norton, 24, went missing from his home in Monkmoor Road, Shrewsbury on Sunday, July 19th. He had last been seen around 10am that morning and was reported missing by his family the following day.

An extensive search was launched by police, including the use of specialist water search teams the Severn Area Rescue Association and the South Wales Police Underwater Search Team, around the Carding Mill Valley, where Mr Norton's rucksack had been found near the reservoir by a member of the public on Sunday afternoon.

His body was found by police divers on Friday morning and formally identified earlier today.

Formal identification was carried out this morning and an inquest will be opened by the Coroner for South Shropshire, Mr Anthony Sibcy, in due course.
