Council Consults On World Heritage Site
Telford & Wrekin Council is consulting the public on exactly what makes the Ironbridge Gorge internationally important.

The council has been tasked by UNESCO with defining the unique and distinctive qualities which qualified the Ironbridge Gorge to become a World Heritage Site.
UNESCO has asked new World Heritage Sites to provide a Statement of Outstanding Universal Value as part of the nomination process and it is this document that the council will be consulting on.
The consultation starts on November 4 at 9am and runs through till December 15 at 5pm.
Councillor Eric Carter, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The Ironbridge Gorge is internationally recognised as one of the top ranking places in the world and because of this it requires very careful management and protection.
"The Gorge became a World Heritage Site in 1986 and we are now being asked to produce a Statement of Outstanding Universal Value in consultation with local people, stakeholders and other interested parties."
Anyone who would like to take part in this process can look at the Draft Statement of Outstanding Universal Value on Telford & Wrekin Council's website at www.telford.gov.uk/whsconsultation and leave their comments.
