shropshirelive.com a new era

shropshirelive.com launched in July 2009 to bring alternative local independent media to our county. The website is a new venture, that at it's heart, aims to bring news and information into one place with the contribution of local people.

To build a better user experience the website has undergone some changes. Earlier in the year we carried out a survey to find out what you wanted to see more and less of. After months of planning and design we hope the new site will deliver improved usability and make it far easier to contribute.

So what's changed we hear you ask, well firstly you will notice a new rolling wall that greets you on the home page highlighting the top features and articles throughout the site, along with displaying our organic locally produced news stories.

You will also find a new search box in the right hand corner of the home page making it easier to search the whole site.

We've also made the site easier to share with new social media sharing tools on every page, so with one click you can tweet, facebook, digg stumbleupon or email an article. We have also added and new RRS feed so you will never miss another new article added.

The news zone has been refreshed with separate local news articles making them easier to navigate and read, plus the option to comment on the stories. We have also added a new business section to highlight local business news along with tips and articles for our local businesses.

The Entertainment zone has got bigger with more events added, more theatre articles and a refreshed cinema page with film trailers and synopsis of new and future films.

The taste section has been simplified, but you still find an array of food and drink related articles along with the latest restaurant and takeaway reviews as submitted by you.

Our Lifestyle section has new look pages including, pets, health, your story and of course your daily horoscopes. We are still supporting the Dogs Trust too with "Give a dog a home" and have now introduced "Give a cat a home" with Shropshire Cat Rescue.

Over in the Shropshire zone you will find Shropshire related articles, submitted by you, covering everything from Aliens to Tea Parties. We are also looking for your photos of in and around Shropshire in our new look photo gallery.

In Take5 things have got really exciting, here is where all the sites competitions will appear in one place, a new look video vault with collections of great videos discovered on the web, a strange news feed from around the world and also a whole host of games to keep you entertained for hours.

The Shropshire Directory just keeps getting bigger as we continue to add basic listings for free. If you're looking for a local businesses then just click the directory to find everything from Artists to Wedding Planners.

We have also added the option to comment on almost all the articles on the website.

We hope you like the new look site and we are always open to any ideas or suggestions.

We want to thank everyone who has helped and supported us. Together we will continue to bring our community together and help each other while supplying an alternative media outlet for the people of Shropshire.

The website is purely financed by our advertisers and without them this site would cease to exist. The website is also powered by our users who interact and contribute with articles and ideas, without them this site would cease to exist so thank you.
