Attempted Break-In at Market Drayton Shop
At least £500 worth of damage was caused to a shop in Market Drayton during an attempted break-in.
Police have appealed for anybody who witnessed the incident, which happened between about 5.50pm on Friday and 8.30am on Saturday at Tuesday chocolate shop in Wilkinson Walk, off Cheshire Street.
Police Constable Clare Stretton, who is investigating the incident, said whoever was responsible is likely to have been at the scene for some time, due to the amount of damage caused.
“The pane of glass in the door was smashed and damage caused to the door itself, which has been left cracked and broken and needs to be replaced,” she said.
“We are treating the incident as an attempted burglary and anyone who might have seen or heard anything in the area of the shop that night is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
“As it was a Friday night, the town centre will have been relatively busy with people leaving the various night-time venues so it is highly likely that someone may have seen something.
“Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
