Shrewsbury Choir Event Replaces Christmas Light Switch On
It’s been revealed that Shrewsbury’s annual Christmas light switch on won’t be taking place this year.

The ceremony, which normally is hosted by local radio personalities and features characters from the Shrewsbury Pantomime, this year was replaced with a low-key start to the town’s late night shopping season.
Instead of a large stage and crowds gathering to count down the Christmas light switch on, the event was replaced by a celebration of Christmas performed around town by Shrewsbury choirs.
The Christmas Chorus, marked the start of late night shopping and Christmas lights with a feast of festive choral singing.
Performances took place in The Square, St. Mary’s Place, St, Alkmund’s Place and Mardol Head from 6pm – 8.30pm.
It’s understood the annual event which costs in the region of £2,000 to host was too deemed expensive to put on this year.
We would love to know what you thought of the decision?
