A mother and daughter were in the property in Rhodes Avenue at the time of the blast at around 8.35pm when the explosion sent shock waves through the property.
Its thought a suspected build up of gas from heater which had failed to light over a period of 15 minutes was the cause of the explosion which sent shock waves through the property when it eventually ignited.
The living room, roof and chimney breast were all damaged in the blast.
The gas supply was isolated by Fire Service crews before Transco arrived at the property.
