Police today urged the driver of a black car, who may have vital information regarding a fatal collision in which two young men died, to get in touch.

Police Renew Appeal on A41 Double Fatal Collision from October 2010

Several people have already been spoken as part of investigations into the crash, which happened on 20th October last year on the A41 near Tern Hill.

Thomas Nixon, 19, and Adam Childs, 20, both from Press, died when the blue Vauxhall Corsa they were travelling in collided with a silver Audi A5.

Police Constable Sian Price, the investigating officer, said the Corsa had travelled down the A53 from Market Drayton towards Tern Hill, before turning right towards Whitchurch onto the A41 at Tern Hill Island.

“A black or dark coloured car, believed to have been a Vauxhall Vectra or similar, was driving in front of the Corsa on the A53 as it travelled from the Muller Island to the Tern Hill Island,” she said.

“We do not believe this vehicle was involved in the crash but the driver and any other occupants may have important information that could help us establish the manner of driving of the Corsa immediately beforehand.

“It is not known which direction the dark car went in after the Corsa turned right to head north on the A41 and I would urge that driver and anyone else in the vehicle to get in touch on 0300 333 3000.”

The crash happened just before 11pm about 300 yards north of the A41/A53 roundabout junction at Tern Hill, near Market Drayton.

An inquest into the deaths of Mr Nixon and Mr Childs will be held in due course by the Coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr John Eller.
