Police Renew Appeal over Serious Sexual Assault in Telford
Police in Telford have today renewed their appeal for information about a serious sexual assault that occurred early on Sunday 23rd January.

The victim – a woman in her early 30s – was walking alone on a footpath at the rear of St Agathas Close in Dothill when the incident occurred at just after midnight on Sunday morning.
As the woman walked along the footpath, a man approached her from behind on a pedal cycle and pushed her to the floor. She was then sexually assaulted.
A neighbour heard a commotion and came to the help of the woman.
Police are continuing to carry out a detailed investigation into this incident and as well as carrying out extensive forensic work at the scene, they have also conducted intensive door to door inquiries in the surrounding area.
Detective Sergeant Mark Jones, from Telford CID, has today reminded people of the description of the suspect and also released information about two specific lines of inquiry police are keen to get more information on.
DS Jones said:
“The man responsible for this assault is described as white with a tanned complexion, aged in his 30s and at least 5ft 9ins tall. He is described as being of stocky build with a round face and broad neck.
“He was wearing a heavy dark coloured jacket and dark coloured trousers or jeans and was riding what is believed to be a dark coloured mountain bike.
“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the suspect close to the junction of North Road and Whitchurch Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday night as we have had information that a man – wearing a coat with a hood – was seen watching a lone female in that area prior to the time the assault itself was reported to us.
“We’d also like to speak to a man who was seen walking towards another unknown man - who was on a bicycle – between 11.30pm and midnight as it is possible that this man also has information that could aid our investigation.
He added: “I’d like to thank local residents for their assistance and patience while officers have gone about their work around the scene - people have been really supportive of the work we have been doing. Although incidents of this nature in Telford are extremely rare we have increased visible patrols in the area to provide reassurance for local people. These will continue for the foreseeable future.
“I’d also like to once again appeal for anyone who believes they may have information about this assault to come forward and speak to us as soon as they can. The information you have may seem insignificant but please remember there is the chance that it is actually vital to our inquiry.
“You can either speak to us directly by calling us at Malinsgate Police Station on 0300 333 3000, or if you prefer you can leave information anonymously via the Crimestoppers number which is 0800 555111.”
