Wrekin Housing Trust receives keys to new Wellington homes
The first keys for homes on a redeveloped site in Telford have been handed over to The Wrekin Housing Trust this week.

The Trust were handed the keys to the first phase of six properties at Arleston Lane in Wellington by the developer of the site, Lovells. These first six homes are three and four bedroom, modern, spacious houses with gardens and parking.
Two of the properties have been specially adapted for families with children with special requirements, such as lifts and wet rooms.
The new site will provide 20 brand new homes in total, which will replace the derelict flats that were previously on this piece of land. Three more three-bedroom houses will be completed and keys handed to the Trust shortly, with a further 11 two bedroom apartments by the end of March. All will be built to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and also the Lifetime Homes standard and will be let through the Trust’s Choose Your Home rental system.
Marie Wynne, who was recently told that she had been allocated one of the homes on the site, said: “I was really pleased to get this new home, I felt like I had won the lottery when the Trust told me. I’ve already started measuring up so I can get moved in as soon as possible.”

The Arleston Lane site was recently awarded a score of 38.5 out of 40 by the Considerate Constructors scheme and the developers, Lovells, have worked extremely hard alongside the Trust to ensure that as little disturbance as possible has been caused to local residents. Workers on the site have spent time clearing paths for local elderly residents in the bad weather, clearing the nearby football pitch and even erecting a Christmas tree over the festive period.
The development has also had help from twin apprentices from the Trust Daniel and Jason Price, who have been working two days per month at the site as part of their placements.
The apartments at the site will also be fitted with a living grass roof as soon as weather permits and solar panels have also been used on the development. The site will also have disabled and extra parking.
The Trust is utilising money accrued from Right to Buy sales, to provide the funding required for the scheme.
