Over 3,000 potholes filled since January in Telford & Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin Council has filled in over 3,000 potholes since the launch of their Pothole Busters campaign at the end of January.
Since the campaign launched two weeks ago, the council say eight out of ten reported potholes have been filled within two working days.
One of the coldest Decembers on record caused a jump in the number of potholes on public roads and in response the Council doubled the number of teams it has to deal with potholes from four to eight until the end of March.
Telford & Wrekin borough drivers and residents are being asked to report as many potholes as possible to the Council by:
• Contacting the online 24 hour Pothole Hotline at www.telford.gov.uk/potholebusters
• Calling the Pothole Busters hotline on (01952) 384000 (8am – 7pm weekdays)
Councillor Adrian Lawrence, Cabinet Member for Environment and Rural Area, said: “Improving the public roads across the borough is one of the council’s top priorities and that’s why we’re putting extra resources into deal with the potholes as a matter of urgency.
“The campaign’s got off to a good start and I’d encourage the public to report any pothole problems they see, including the location and damage to the road, to our Pothole Busting Hotline. One pothole report often results in a number of potholes being filled, particularly if these are urgent.”
A similar campaign last year saw the Council fill an estimated 11,500 potholes in a similar two month period.
Top priority is given to urgent potholes and the Council expects to repair eight out of ten reported potholes, including all urgent reports, within two working days. Those not repaired within this time will be filled in five to 20 working days and will be prioritised according to their urgency.
