Police in Oswestry have appealed for witnesses to an alleged assault at a bus stop in a nearby village.

Woman arrested following alleged assault in Whittington

A scuffle is reported to have broken out following a verbal confrontation between two women in their 30s at the junction of Station Road and Western Avenue in the centre of Whittington at about 12.15am yesterday.

One woman was today arrested on suspicion of assault and has been interviewed before being released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police Constable Chris Wiggins, who is investigating the incident, said a number of people are reported to have intervened to break-up the confrontation.

“A bus is also believed to have pulled up at the stop at the time of the alleged incident and I would urge anyone who might have seen what happened to contact me on 0300 333 3000,” he said.
