Police are investigating after thieves broke into a Telford social club and caused thousands of pounds of damage.

Thieves cause damage at Telford social club

The break-in happened at Sinclair Social Club in Ketley at around 1.50am yesterday.

Thieves approached the back of the club, via the bowls area, and smashed a glass panel, causing it to shatter.

Offenders then went around the side of the club and forced open a side door, before entering the club.

While inside they attacked the roller shutters to the licensed bar area and a fruit machine.

Nothing was stolen.

Police are investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone with information about the matter to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “A significant amount of damage was caused to the social club, including damage to the door, a shattered window and damage to a fruit machine.

“The cost of the damage is estimated to be around £2,500.”

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Information should be passed to Telford Police on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
