A donation of £350 was made to Forden & Churchstoke District Retired Persons Indoor Bowling, £400 was donated to Bucknell Community Sports project, which used the funds to build a new changing facility, local good cause The Four Rivers Friends received a donation of £250 and Cleobury Mortimer Playgroup received a donation of £250, using the funds to upgrade the group’s learning aids.

Harry Tuffin has been raising money for its local community through the sale of specific products in store and has been able to donate the money raised with the help of the charity Making A Difference – Locally (MADL). The MADL charity was formed in May 2008 with the intention of assisting more than 2,000 independent retailers throughout the UK with raising money for their local communities. The charity works by a specified amount of the cost of certain products promoted instore being allocated to the retailer’s MADL charity fund. For instance, this month for every McCain Homefries 750g pack purchased in store, 2p of the sale will go into the retailer’s MADL fund to be donated to their chosen charity.

The charity was created by Nisa-Today’s and Costcutter Supermarkets and the stores participating in the scheme are all members of Nisa-Today’s or independent retailers who are part of the Costcutter Supermarkets Group.

Paul Delves, managing director of Harry Tuffin, commented: “We are extremely pleased to make these donations to a variety of local charities and good causes and we hope it goes some way to help them continue the excellent work they undertake. The Making A Difference – Locally charity is a great concept as it allows us to help the people that support us on a regular basis.”
