Police appeal for witnesses after woman is sexually assaulted in Ludlow

The incident happened on the football pitch near the Linney play area shortly before 1am yesterday.

Detective Inspector Mick Homden said today: “We received a report in the early hours of yesterday and as a result are investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in her thirties.”

He said a man in his twenties had been arrested in connection with the incident and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

DI Homden said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen a man and woman walking together in the direction of the Linney from the Mill Street area of Ludlow late on Tuesday night up to about 1am yesterday morning.

“In particular, I would ask people to get in contact if they saw a man and woman in the area of the Linney football field at around 1am. The number to call is Ludlow police station on 0300-333-3000.”
