Police investigating the disappearance of a Shrewsbury man who has not been seen since he left his home more than five days ago today renewed an appeal for information.

Renewed appeal over missing Shrewsbury man Darren Flynn

Darren Flynn was last seen by a friend early on Sunday morning, after which he is believed to have briefly returned home to Whitchurch Road before leaving without any of his belongings.

As a result of appeals in the media, a number of people have already called in with information, including a possible sighting of Darren sitting on a bench near the old canal and river in Sundorne Road, near the sports centre, at about 10.15am on the morning he went missing.

There is great concern for Darren’s wellbeing as his disappearance is completely out of character and he has never gone missing before.

Police Constable Philippa Rogers, from Shrewsbury Police Station, said man seen by the old canal appeared to fit Darren’s description and that he had been “distressed and crying” at the time.

“Both Darren’s family and the police are extremely concerned about Darren’s wellbeing and this concern only increases as the days pass without any contact,” she said.

“He has never disappeared like this before and has always remained in contact with his family if he has gone away for any length of time.

“If anyone has seen someone matching Darren’s description or knows where he might be now, please call the police on 0300 333 3000.”

PC Rogers also made a direct appeal to Darren himself to get in contact so it could be established he was safe and well.

“Darren, if you see or hear this appeal, please get in touch immediately and let us know you are okay,” she added.

“You can either stop in to your nearest police station or call the police on 0300 333 3000 or your family.

“A lot of people are very worried about you and are desperate to have you home safe and sound.”
