Service resumes following maintenance work at Ludlow maternity unit
Inpatient services at the Ludlow’s midwife-led maternity unit are this morning resuming following essential work to maintain and improve the care environment.
The improvements included installing new fire doors, flooring and electrics in the building.
Inpatient services were suspended last month as it was not deemed safe to carry these improvements out while caring for women who are giving birth and their babies.
Outpatient activity at the midwife-led maternity unit in Ludlow remained unaffected by the work and community and day assessment midwives remained on site throughout.
Anthea Gregory-Page, Senior Midwife, said: “The remedial work to improve the care environment in Ludlow has been completed and we are delighted with the outcome of the work. This will enable us to maintain our services until the new unit at the Eco-park has been built.
“We would like to thank everyone involved in this process and thank all the women and their families for being so patient and understanding whilst the work has taken place.”
