Two arrested and drugs seized in Madeley
A man and a woman have been arrested after the South Telford Local Policing Team executed a drugs warrant. The warrant was executed at an address in Wrekin View in Madeley at around 10.30am today.
An amount of drugs, believed to be cannabis worth more than £250, was seized and will now be sent off for forensic analysis.
A man and a woman, both aged in their 20’s, were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. They were taken to Malinsgate Police Station where they are currently helping police with their enquiries.
Police Constable Mick Evans, Local Police Officer for Madeley, said:
“We will not tolerate the use of illegal drugs in Telford. Drugs are at the centre of most criminal activity and if we receive information that drugs are being used, we will seize the substances and prosecute.
“This is the latest in a series of warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act across the Borough and police will continue to tackle those suspected of supplying drugs. We take drug crime very seriously and act on any information received from members of the public.
“Anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes should call us immediately. However, we acknowledge that some people do not want to get involved or give their name, so Crimestoppers provides the means for anyone to pass information about suspicious activity or crime with a guarantee of anonymity.
“It is important that people call us with information, because it is ultimately their help that enables us to carry out operations and make arrests - therefore helping us to disrupt, prevent and detect crime. Information can be passed to Police directly by calling 0300 333 3000, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
