Ludlow police praise town’s CCTV system
Police in Ludlow have praised the town’s CCTV system following the jailing of a man caught on camera damaging a car.

Curtis Ian Howell (18) was jailed by Telford magistrates last week after admitting criminal damage, being in breach of an anti-social behaviour order and being in breach of a suspended prison sentence.
He was sentenced to two months for headbutting and smashing the rear window of a Skoda Octavia car at the Co-op in Upper Galdeford on January 23.
Howell received a further two months, running concurrently, for being in breach of an Asbo, made under the Crime and Disorder Act by Shrewsbury Crown Court on June 5, 2009.
A further two-month sentence was imposed, to run consecutively, for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed by Telford magistrates in August last year for assault and breaching an Asbo.
Sergeant Adrian Woolley, of Ludlow Police said Howell was filmed on CCTV damaging the car.
He said today: “Police investigations, in conjunction with Ludlow town centre CCTV, led to him being identified, arrested and put before the court.
“Ludlow has a very effective CCTV system which monitors activity in and around the town centre. There is no doubt the cameras play a significant role in helping solve many crimes.
“If people offend in the town centre, there is a very good chance their behaviour will be recorded on CCTV – providing strong evidence to assist in bringing culprits to justice,” Sergeant Woolley added.
A second man, charged with theft from the Skoda, was also dealt with by Telford magistrates. Stephan William Anthony (18), received a 12-month community order, ordered to carryout 120 hours unpaid work and to pay £290 compensation.
