Hive’s community street party to host BBC Midlands Today
The Hive Music and Media Centre is looking forward to hosting BBC Midlands Today as part of the centre’s much anticipated Belmont street party this Friday, Royal Wedding day.

The street party on Belmont will feature a variety of activities for all ages, including acoustic performances by local Shropshire musicians Babytwin, AMFX, Jamie Keeling and Luke Day, plus interactive workshops in crown making, stop-frame animation, textile customisation and flag-making. Visitors will have the opportunity to get involved in traditional Maypole dancing and there will also be face painting, balloon modelling and live street theatre.
Neighbouring residents have been involved throughout the organisation of the event and the Hive is grateful to a number of local businesses which have pledged support and offered services for the day. Those involved include Severnside Housing, Wace Morgan Solicitors, Simon Baynes Books and Music, Shrewsbury Rotary Club, Primesave Properties, Iddys Ices, The Golden Cross Hotel, The Pantry Bistro, The Shrewsbury Coffeehouse, Poppies Sweets, The Shrewsbury Bakehouse, the Shrewsbury Town Centre Residents Association, St Winefride’s School and Convent, Simon Boyd Interiors, Bright Owls language school, Shrewsbury Cathedral, Art International and Juliet Chilton.
Alyson Lanning, the Hive’s Director said “The Hive’s street party has presented a fantastic opportunity for us to engage direct with our neighbours, bringing various groups together to work towards what will be an extremely positive day for all involved. The event has demonstrated the importance of local charities and businesses working together in partnership – with the fact that BBC Midlands Today has chosen to visit the event testament to the community effort and spirit that has been offered!”
The Hive’s community street party will be taking place on Friday April 29 and will start at 2pm, running until 6pm, with everyone welcome to come along and join in the fun! Businesses interested in supporting future events, can contact the Hive by emailing marketing@hiveonline.org.uk
