Residents from The Wrekin Housing Trust’s 35 sheltered housing schemes will be helping to cheer on Prince William and Katherine Middleton by holding their very own celebratory parties tomorrow.

Residents help to cheer on William and Kate on big day

Just like any wedding, the residents have got together to organise a party and have even assigned wedding planners to help make sure everything runs smoothly. Volunteers from the local community even helped resident’s ice wedding cakes that would be fit for any royal table.

The preparations, which have been six months in the planning, even involved residents sending out invitations to their friends and families inviting them to come and join in with the celebrations and watch the ceremony with them in their schemes.

Wendy Bostock, Supported Housing Team Leader said: “The residents have been brilliant – they have all come together to make sure the celebrations on the 29th April are enjoyed by all, including friends and family. They have worked really hard in all aspects of the preparations and I hope they have a really fun day.”

She added: “Some residents are going a step further and are actually going to dress up in evening wear to watch the ceremony on the TV. I would like to thank everyone at the Trust, all the companies who donated gifts for the raffle and all the residents who have worked so very hard, well done everyone.”

In addition to the party preparations, the residents even found the time to hold a special royal wedding day raffle, with proceeds going to Help for Heroes and local Telford charity, Severn Hospice. In all a fantastic £791 was raised through raffle tickets and donations by the residents themselves.
